David J. ShimmonExecutive Chairman |
David J. Shimmon brings over 16 years of semiconductor industry experience to his position as executive chairman at Celerity. He is continuously seeking to advance the company’s leadership by focusing on critical growth opportunities and industry partnerships, with an emphasis on increasing market share and expanding Celerity’s portfolio of innovative products and services solutions. Previous to his present position, he served as the company’s chairman and CEO from July 1996 through August 2006.
Mr. Shimmon became involved in the semiconductor industry in 1990 when he led Kinetics Holdings from a small regional concern to a leading dollar provider of high-purity products. Through organic growth and a series of acquisitions, he expanded the company and oversaw the formation of Celerity in 1997. In 1997, he led the sale of Celerity/Kinetics to United States Filter Corporation – a Fortune 500 company – and served as president and chief operating officer of US Filter. Subsequently, he co-led the sale of US Filter to Vivendi S.A.
Mr. Shimmon maintains close contacts and has key alliances with leaders and innovators in technology, education, and government communities. In recent years, Mr. Shimmon has increased his involvement in issues related to growth, infrastructure and development policies impacting Silicon Valley. He is a board member of both the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and The Tech Museum in San Jose, California.

Timothy Harris brings over 25 years of semiconductor and electronic experience to his position as Chief Executive Officer at Celerity. He has demonstrated his in-depth experience in leading worldwide operationally oriented companies and providing outstanding leadership to world-class organizations.
Before joining Celerity, Mr. Harris served as Chief Executive Officer of Komag, Inc., a leading manufacturer of recordable media serving the disk drive industry, since October of 2006. He originally joined Komag in October 2005 as Chief Operating Officer, where he led the company's successful effort to dramatically increase revenue and profitability. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of iolon, Inc., a supplier of widely tunable lasers and other products for the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining iolon, Mr. Harris served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Technology Manufacturing Operations at Seagate Technology, a designer and manufacturer of hard disk drives. Mr. Harris joined Seagate in 1990 as Manager of Ferrite Heads, and subsequently transferred to the position of Vice President, Managing Director of Malaysian Head Operations and ultimately Senior Vice President of Worldwide Slider and Recording Heads Operations. Before joining Seagate, Mr. Harris held manufacturing and executive positions at Conner Peripherals, Domain Technology and Memorex.

David Somo was named senior vice president of sales and marketing at Celerity in June 2005 and brings 20 years of semiconductor and electronics industry experience to his position. He is responsible for corporate marketing and worldwide sales, including regional operations in North America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and the People’s Republic of China.
Before joining Celerity, Mr. Somo served as vice president of marketing at Ubicom, where he was responsible for leading the product marketing, business development, marketing communications and applications engineering activities. Prior to Ubicom, Mr. Somo worked as senior vice president, worldwide sales and service, and corporate officer at MEMC Electronic Materials, a leading supplier of silicon wafers to integrated device manufacturers and semiconductor foundries. Before MEMC, he served as vice president of strategic account sales at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a leading supplier of x86 compatible microprocessors and flash memory. There, he established the strategic account organization and managed sales to AMD's top tier customers worldwide. Also at AMD, Mr. Somo held the positions of vice president, sales and marketing for the Americas, and vice president of worldwide marketing for AMD's microprocessor business.
Tony La RosaChief Information Officer |
Tony La Rosa has 19 years of information technology experience in the electronics industry. He has been Celerity’s chief information officer since 2003, responsible for management of all information technology across the company, including enterprise architecture, systems development, information security, data management, telecommunications, and user computing.
Prior to assuming this position, Mr. La Rosa was senior vice president of administration in 2003, overseeing many of the "back office" functions, including information technology, human resources, facilities, environmental health and safety responsibilities. He also directed company-wide initiatives in the areas of information technology, operations, and facilities, which includes all enterprise applications, facility consolidations, and lean initiatives. Mr. La Rosa’s previous positions include that of vice president of information technology at Celerity between 2001 and 2003, and information technology manager and director of information technology at Kinetics between 1996 and 1999.
